MAYLA LAXtravaganza! will once again be held at University School of Milwaukee on May 20 & 21 from 8 am to 8 pm.

This event has been a success in the past years and we hope that 2017 will be nothing less!

Of course, this cannot be done without volunteers (um,... more than 300!) and that is where MAYLA is hoping you can help!

Below are listed the areas where we would need help with brief descriptions. The number of people we need are PER ONE HOUR SHIFTS, not total, unless specified.

**All volunteers will need to check in 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift at the MAYLA Headquarters Tent located in the Vendor Village.

Lining 2 Bantam Fields pre-event- Boys & Girls- 5/10/17 - 5/17/17
DATE & TIME is TBD, based on volunteers availability. USM prefers daytime lining, however will attempt to accommodate evening. This will be coordinated among volunteers. Please list your availability in the "comment" section when you sign-up.

Set-Up/Clean-Up:  Friday, Sat & Sunday

These volunteers will help with whatever needs to be secured overnight and make sure everything is set for the next day of lacrosse.  Friday shift is ~ 5:00-8:00, Sat/Sun are pre- and post-event.

Parking Lot Monitors

USM would like to have 6 people at all times in the parking lots during the event. This does not mean the same six people have to stand out there, but there always has to be six. Yes, that is ALOT of volunteers! As a parking lot monitor, you will make sure everyone is directed to the appropriate field and help people park in an organized manner.

We will also need 2 parking lot greeters who will be at the two entrances to hand out event programs as attendees arrive.

Fastest Shot Station

We need 2 people to be working at this station, one to collect money, send the kids through the line, and record the top three times, and another person to hold the radar gun.  Kids (even adults!) love to see how fast they shoot!

Raffle & Silent Auction

For the raffle, we will need 3 people/hour to walk around from field to field with selling tickets for our 50/50 raffle. Drawings are twice daily.

For the silent auction, we need 2 people to make sure there are no issues and that all the items stay at the table on Saturday and to assist with the check-out and pick-up of prizes on Sunday.

We are also accepting more items/service/gift certificates for raffle/silent auction. Please contact me if you can donate or have a lead on a potential donor/sponsor.

Presentation of Programs and Jim Calder: Lacrosse Presentation

New event this year! Volunteers will be needed to assist the teams in lining up to enter Field #1 and directing the players on & off the field.

Floaters

We will need one volunteer per hour to help where needed: e.g. refill the 5-gal water coolers, help deliver coolers to the playing fields, empty trash cans.

Score Keepers/Penalty Timers

These volunteers will be from the designated Home Team per the Master Schedule. Please contact your team parent to sign up for these shifts.  There will be 2 persons filling the roles of score keeper and penalty timer at each field for every game who will be in charge of keeping score, keeping time for the halves following a centralized start horn, timing penalties on the field, reporting any injuries to the head table, ushering teams on and off the fields, and giving a two minute warning to teams and spectators before the games start. You will also be checking the water coolers and letting the head table know if they need refilling.

Culture Keepers

Please contact your team parent to sign up for these shifts. There will be one from each team as per league rules for all games.

Pop-up Canopies

MAYLA needs to borrow 9 canopies to keep volunteers safe from the elements. Drop off Friday, 5:00 - 8:00 pm or Saturday am before 7:30 am. Pick-up on Sunday in the evening, no later than 8:30 pm.  We greatly appreciate your assistance!

Portable Backstop

Kids like to shoot!  We need 3 backstops to enclose the Fastest Shot Contest goal. Please let us know if you have one the organization can borrow for the weekend. Drop off Friday night for set-up is preferred, but will accept at 7:00 am on Saturday, and pick-up on Sunday between 7:30 - 8:30 pm.

Please contact Mary DiGiacomo if you have any questions.
