Overview
Lacrosse is a fast-paced, exciting sport that combines the best aspects of many other sports. Ultimately, the object of lacrosse is to shoot the ball into the opponent's goal; and, the team that scores the most goals wins.
There are many differences between girls' and boys' lacrosse; for example, in the numbers of players that take the field. More information on boys lacrosse can be found here; more information on girls lacrosse can be found here.
The Rules
US Lacrosse publishes the rulebooks for youth boys’ and youth girls’ lacrosse. Each can be found, below:
US Lacrosse Youth Boys' Rulebook
US Lacrosse Youth Girls' Rulebook
MAYLA programs adhere to the rules published in these rulebooks. Occasionally, variations are made after considering exhaustive surveys of rules in leagues representing nearly 170,000 youth players and research and published literature from the US Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee, among other factors.
